AfCFTA projects 45% growth in intra-African trade by 2045

    The Africa Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat is projecting a 45 percent growth in intra-African trade by the end of 2045, boosted by increased fairness in competition across the continent. The growth is expected to lift more than 30 million people out of extreme poverty by the end of 2035, while at the same time increasing household incomes by at least 7 percent by the end of 2035. But trade experts warn that this success will largely depend on levelling the playing field for all players, ensuring there is no abuse of market dominance by certain players. Jimmy Mbogoh reports.
