Nigerian economist Akinwumi Adesina will conclude his tenure as President of the African Development Bank Group this September. In an exclusive interview with the BBC’s Focus on Africa host Audrey Brown, Dr. Adesina reflected on his achievements, Africa’s challenges, and the future beyond foreign aid.
Discussing the impact of U.S. and global aid cuts, he emphasised that Africa cannot continue relying on external benevolence. He also shared how his own experience growing up in poverty shaped his vision for the continent’s economic future.
