A rather unusual proposal has been made in Homa Bay County to help increase its forest cover. The county Executive Committee Member in charge of Water, Sanitation, Irrigation, Environment, Forestry, Energy, and Climate Change, Dr. Joash Aloo, wants funeral planners to allocate a portion of the colossal amounts raised during funerals for tree planting. Aloo further recommended that during the burial date, the mourners be engaged in planting the trees before eating, and plant as many trees as the aged of the deceased.
