Baringo County Government in conjunction with Kirandich Water Works has started the process of cleaning Kirandich dam which is a major source of water in Kabarnet town and its environs. The move follows complaints from the residents that the water in the dam is contaminated. Speaking during the clean up exercise, Kirandich Water Works Managing Director Jackton Kimtai said the water has turned colour due to siltation.Chief Officer in charge of Water and Sanitation in Baringo county Milkah Toromo said the exercise will help in providing clean water to the area residents. The dam was constructed 24 years ago by the Italian government.
