A group of legislators from Baringo County have opposed plans to scrap the school feeding programme from the 2024/2025 budget terming the decision ill-advised and ill-timed. Speaking during a public participation forum at KEFRI in Marigat, the leaders led by Baringo Women Representative, Florence Jematia and Baringo North MP, Joseph Makilap, stated that the school feeding programme is the lifeline of most children especially those from arid and semi-arid lands (ASAL). The leaders argue that its removal will have detrimental effects on school attendance in a region that is already suffering from low literacy levels.
