BAT Kenya posts 18% profit rise despite illicit cigarette trade challenges

Listed cigarette manufacturer BAT Kenya has posted an 18 percent rise in profit before tax for the year ended December 2025, despite a sharp increase in illicit cigarette trade that now accounts for nearly half of the domestic market. The company says cost controls and currency stability helped cushion the impact of falling revenues.
