Blue economy centre to be constructed in Kwale

    The government through the ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs and the ministry of Education has launched the construction of a Ksh 1.2 billion Blue Economy Centre in Kombani, Kwale County under the Kenya Coast National Polytechnic. The institute dubbed East Africa Blue Economy Centre of Excellence will train youth on Maritime Transport, Port Logistics among other blue economy skills that are meant to build capacity in the growth of maritime trading. According to the Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya, the institute whose phase one construction will take 18 months, will serve 5 East African Countries in a bid to transform regional business integration.
