Busia fish farmers cry foul over soaring production costs

Small-scale fish farmers in Busia are warning that escalating production costs are putting the future of aquaculture at risk, despite its potential to drive rural incomes and food security. Farmers say the price of quality fish feeds, which make up to 70 percent of production costs, has forced many to rely on food scraps to feed the fish, resulting in lower yields and diminished earnings.
