Growing up in Nyamira county, Job Makori did not see hope in the future. His family was extremely poor and his parents could not afford to take him and his siblings to school. Seeing no means out of the situation, Makori left Nyamira county and travelled to the capital Nairobi in search of greener pastures. However, the city proved to be more cruel than the village.
He ended up at the Globe Roundabout in downtown Nairobi, where he lived as a street urchin, scavenging waste bins for food and shelter.
