CJ Koome assures judges and judicial officers urging them to continue discharging their duties

Chief Justice Martha Koome has assured judges and judicial officers of judicial independence urging them to continue discharging their duties without fear and in accordance to the law. Koome’s assurance follows the arrest and interrogation of judges Aggrey Muchelule and Said Chitembwe on allegations that they were to receive a 5 million shillings bribe. In the meantime the constitutional court has prohibited the DCI from detaining or prosecuting Muchelule and Chitembwe until the petition filed by the Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association stopping any action against the two judges is determined.
