Coffee farmers urge government to save them from cartels

    The fortunes of coffee farmers in the country could change if recommendations to eliminate middlemen in the Coffee subsector are entrenched in law following a directive by deputy president Rigathi Gachagua to members of parliament and senators to enact the recommendations as the law. The deputy president spoke as he closed a 3 day coffee reforms conference in Meru county where farmers literary pleaded with middle men to pay them more for their coffee.
