Controversial Nakuru West Mp Samuel Arama has been fined 1.56 million shillings in a land fraud case. Arama was found guilty in six counts of conspiring to grab a parcel of land valued at 60 million shillings from Ahmed Muamad Nisar between the 3rd and the 11th of August 2015 in Nakuru. Arama was charged alongside lawyer Kennedy Onkoba, Ministry of Lands officials John Muiri Mwaura, Daniel Nyantika and Charles Burundi. Anti corruption court senior Principal Magistrate Victor Wakumile ordered the MP and his four co accused to pay 260,000 shillings for each count they were found guilty of or spend 6 months in jail. Onkoba escaped with the lowest fine of 520,000 shillings after he was found guilty in only two counts. Arama and his co accused were first arraigned in court in June 2018 and charged with several offences among them conspiracy to defraud, abuse of office, and making a document without authority. Arama is seeking to defend the Nakuru west parliamentary seat for the third term.
