The group of twenty richest nations have thrown a major lifeline to the ongoing conference of parties in Baku, saying it is looking forward to a successful New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) outcome in Baku in COP29. The statement has added impetus to the negotiations that entered day nine today with technical teams locking horns over the thorny issue of climate finance. African environment minister decried the lack of commitment and delay tactics by the rich nations who they accused of adopting a hard stance on the 1.3 trillion dollars climate finance needed by developing nations to deal with climate crisis.
