Counties push back on Health Ministry’s plan to transfer UHC staff

    A new standoff is emerging between the national and county governments over the future of more than 8,000 universal health coverage staff. The council of governors has distanced itself from the Ministry of Health’s plan to transition and absorb UHC staff starting September 2025, following what the ministry calls a completion of a headcount exercise in collaboration with Cog. Cog says the ministry’s announcement contradicts previously agreed positions between the two levels of government.
