One in every 10 women have endometriosis. This is according to the world health organisation, and as the endometriosis month comes to a close, there is a need to highlight and create awareness of endometriosis to help one or more women who may need information on how to go about endometriosis. We spoke to Dr. Sarita Sukija, a gynecologist at the Myra IVF centre here in Nairobi. She tells us that just as a woman has their period, the same happens for a woman with endometriosis which is an inflammatory condition where the tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of the uterus and bleeds when a woman is having her period.
