Death toll from Chesongoch landslide tragedy in Elgeyo Marakwet hits 36

The death toll from the Chesongoch landslide tragedy in Elgeyo Marakwet County has risen to 36 after two more bodies were retrieved Wednesday morning. The Rescue team led by the Kenya Red Cross says 17 people are still missing. A section of leaders led by Eldoret Catholic Diocese Archbishop Dominic Kimengich challenged the government to move with speed and find a lasting solution to the crisis by urgently relocating locals still living in the Kerio Valley escarpment to prevent a similar calamity from occurring.
