Detention of dead bodies either in hospital or mortuary in public healthcare facilities will be criminalized if a bill before the National Assembly becomes law. The Health Amendment Bill 2024, sponsored by Kirinyaga Member of Parliament Njeri Maina, also seeks to guarantee access to emergency treatment and healthcare services before patients are required to make upfront payments for anticipated medical costs.
