A heavy yet unifying silence gripped Membley Baptist Church on Monday as hundreds of mourners gathered to pay tribute to Mrs. Cecilia Kiogora, beloved wife of Dr. Norman Kiogora, Director of the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE). In an extraordinary show of solidarity and respect, dignitaries from across Kenya’s political, security, and education spheres came together to honour a woman described as “graceful, prayerful, and deeply nurturing.” Among the notable attendees was First Daughter Charlene Ruto, who paid her respects to the family, praising Mrs. Kiogora’s quiet strength and unwavering support for her husband’s mission in education and inclusion. Also present was Assistant Inspector General of Police and Commandant of the Kenya Police Academy, alongside Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Collins Oyuu. Leaders from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), Ministry of Education, Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), and several public and private educational institutions were in attendance, marking a rare moment of collective grief across sectors.
