Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has dismissed claims that he is using financial incentives to sway regions perceived to be hostile to the kenya kwanza administration through his new economic empowerment programme. Kindiki has been distributing millions of shillings at public functions, with the mount kenya region receiving the largest share of his recent handouts. In the past month alone, the deputy president has contributed over 50 million shillings at events across the country, where members of parliament have also donated no less than 100,000 shillings each. Critics have dismissed the initiative as a display of opulence, coming at a time when millions of kenyans are battling economic hardships and the government is implementing budget cuts for the 2025/26 financial year.
