Duale insists Ebola facility will proceed amid parliamentary opposition

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale says the construction of the U.S. Ebola quarantine centre in Laikipia County will proceed, adding that the demonstrations by a few Kenyans will not stop the government’s plan to prepare to deal with the Ebola disease. Duale announced that the government requires Ksh. 2.6 billion to strengthen the country's readiness for the first 100 cases of the Ebola virus should it emerge. He, however, faced stiff resistance from National Assembly members who mounted a united front to reject the setting up of the facility, questioning why American Ebola patients from neighbouring countries would be moved from the point where they get infected to Kenya.
