Health CS Aden Duale has ordered sweeping reforms in referral hospitals following what he described as a “systems failure” at Kenyatta National Hospital that led to the brutal murder of Edward Maingi Ndegwa inside a ward. Duale termed the incident “unacceptable” and sent condolences to the family. Among the new measures, visitors and those seeking to admit patients will now be required to present a national ID and the patient’s registration details.
