The East Africa Breweries Limited has expressed concern over recent proposals by the national authority for the campaign against alcohol and drug abuse, NACADA, seeking to regulate the sale and distribution of alcohol. CEO Jane Karuku says, though the proposals are yet to undergo public participation, the move could lead to a surge in the consumption of illicit alcohol in the country, which she says currently stands at nearly 60 percent. EABL has further urged the government to put efforts into combating illicit products in the market, noting that, besides being a health concern, it is further eating into what would have been government revenue.
