EACC seeks recovery of Ksh. 78M from ex-KPA official

    The Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission is seeking to recover up to 78 million shillings from a former senior staff of Kenya Ports Authority, on grounds that he secured a tender from his employer illegally EACC says Anthony Muhanji who worked at the KPA illegally secured a 78 million shilling tender for his company, which EACC now wants refunded. In a statement from the EACC the tender was awarded to Mukitek Investment limited which is owned by Muhanji. The commission alleges that Muhanji served as the project manager on behalf of KPA, supervising works that were being implemented by his own company, in what EACC terms conflict of interest. EACC had already frozen 52 million shillings belonging to Mukitek investment limited, which it now wants forfeited to the government. EACC wants Muhanji ordered to refund the full amount to the government.
