ECOWAS commission president presser on Niger (Live) – BBC Africa
The President of the Ecowas commission, Dr. Omar Alieu Tourey holding a press conference today in Abuja about the Niger political crisis.
Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu, who is also chairman of ECOWAS, plans to send a second group of Islamic clerics to Niger this weekend to mediate the crisis.
The coup leader in Niger, Gen Abdourahamane Tchiani, has signed an order allowing the fellow military governments of Mali and Burkina Faso to send their troops into his country to help defend against an attack.
