The Ministry of Education has announced plans to partner with TVET institutions across the country, to plant over one billion trees as part of the government’s ambitious target, of planting 15 billion trees to increase forest cover, combat climate change, and protect the environment for future generations.
Speaking during the TVET Institutions Tree Planting Day, at KCC Forest in Trans Nzoia County, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba, said the initiative will actively involve students, trainers, and local communities in environmental conservation and awareness campaigns.
At the same time, Ogamba warned individuals involved in grabbing forest land, that the government will take firm legal action against them, to safeguard the nation’s vital natural resources.
