Eight students are in custody following the deadly Utumishi Academy fire tragedy after DCI investigations established the incident was an act of arson. In a statement issued on Friday, the DCI said the eight students were arrested as persons of interest linked to the planning and execution of the suspected arson attack. Meanwhile, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has ordered the immediate dissolution of the Utumishi Girls Academy Board of Management over alleged negligence following the death of the 16 students.
