The legality of Kenya police officers being sent to the Caribbean nation of Haiti as a peacekeeping force has been questioned. 200 officers are set to be deployed next week, with the deployment set to coincide with President William Ruto’s official state visit to the United States. The president insists that the deployment is not unpopular in the country, terming the mission as a responsibility that Kenya must undertake to help Haitians just as it would its people. Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot argued that the deployment of the 200 police officers next week would be unconstitutional, as the high court barred the deployment.
