The second edition of the equatorial rally zooms off on Friday with defending champion Piers Daykin ready to pick another crown in Taita Taveta. Daykin has a major boost after acquiring a new car, a Datsun 280Z. This year’s rally will feature a strong and diverse field, with 28 cars confirmed on the start line, blending heritage machines with endurance-focused builds. Rwandan driver Giancarlo Davite says he has returned to the Kenyan rally scene for pure fun. After the ceremonial flag off, the cars will tackle the first 69km block 11 – block 8 camp stage. They then move to the punishing latika – langa 85.85 kilometres second stage. The last stage of the day will be the 74.30km landi- pusa stage.
