Twenty-three months after protesters stormed Parliament during demonstrations against the controversial Finance Bill 2024 protests, one man stood out.
Armed only with his phone, Ezekiel Kyama captured the moment protesters breached one of Kenya’s most guarded buildings. He went further into the National Assembly chambers, sat on the Speaker’s chair, and delivered a message on behalf of Gen Z protesters.
As security officers opened fire, Kyama escaped and went into hiding, fearing for his life. He has now resurfaced. Our reporter Gatete Njoroge spoke to him and filed the following report.
