FISHER FOLK EMPOWERMENT

The International Fund for Fishing Safety, in collaboration with Stella Maris, an international maritime charity dedicated to seafarers, fishers, and their families, has rolled out comprehensive safety training and advocacy programs aimed at safeguarding fisher folk. The training is aimed at spotlighting the growing challenges and expanding support networks for those who make their living at sea, that is, fishermen who make up nearly 39 million globally and rank among the most vulnerable workforces at sea, with alarmingly high casualty rates.
