Two people have died in Olmekenyu, Narok County, after being swept away by raging floods, while six villages have been destroyed by a mudslide as heavy rains continue to pound several parts of the country.
In Tana River, residents of Bakuyu have relocated to temporary camps following flood alerts issued by government agencies and humanitarian groups. The move comes after the Seven Folks Dam filled up, leading to spilling and raising fears of more flooding downstream.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has urged Kenyans living in flood-prone and landslide-risk areas to move to safer grounds.
