Former Tanzania Prime Minister Edward Lowassa is dead. Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango announced that Lowassa died today at the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute after a long illness characterised by lung issues, stomach ulcers and hypertension. President Samia Suluhu Hassan has declared five days of national mourning. Lowassa who was prime minister between 2005 to 2008, died at the age of 70.
