Over 40,000 girls in West Pokot are set to benefit from free sanitary towels that will go a long way in addressing their menstrual hygiene. Speaking while distributing the sanitary towels, West Pokot Women representative Rael Aleutum observed that the girls have been using old clothes and blankets as sanitary towels. This has affected their academic performance as most of them missing class during their menstrual period, while others eventually drop out. She said the provision of free sanitary towels will also restore the girls' dignity and enhance their health.
