As the race to the 2027 general election gathers momentum, Kenya’s youth are rewriting the rules of political engagement, ditching apathy for action through a bold, peer-driven push for voter registration and civic awareness on social media. Led by photojournalist Allan Ademba, hundreds of young people turned up at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission offices in Kasarani to register as voters. And as Emily Chebet reports, the youth now targeting 15 million new voters have vowed to take the campaign nationwide, spreading the message across all 47 counties.
