Government plans ethanol blend to cut fuel import reliance

Petrol sold in the country could soon contain a percentage of locally produced ethanol under new energy regulations aimed at reducing dependence on imported fuel and protecting the economy from global oil price shocks. The government says the programme could also open up new opportunities for farmers, manufacturers and investors across the renewable energy value chain.
