Fight inequality organization Kenya is demanding that the international monetary fund cancel Kenya's public debt, saying debt repayments are impoverishing the country. The organization also wants the government to remove the VAT exemption on importing helicopters and spare parts for small aircraft and introduce VAT exemptions on textbooks and medication. The organization, which will hold its annual Usawa festival from the 18th of January, has joined global calls for a wealth tax on dollar billionaires and millionaires, which it estimates could raise over 1 billion dollars a year.
