Governor Fernandes Barasa has called on the National Treasury to extend the closure of the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS) by two weeks to give counties more time to absorb development funds.
Speaking during the official commissioning of Butere Hatchery Farm in Butere Sub-County, which is projected to produce 10,000 chicks every 21 days boosting the county's economy, the Governor said that IFMIS extension would help counties avoid returning unspent funds to the exchequer, a move that often hinders the progress of key development projects at the grassroots level.
