Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung'aro has promised to partner with private players in the water sector to address water scarcity in the region. Calling the efforts to address water scarcity as a collective responsibility between governments and the private sector through Public Private Partnerships(PPP) Governor Mung'aro said he will continue to work with the players for a long lasting solution.
He was addressing the press at Vipingo,Kilifi County after touring the Sh500 million water desalination plant run by investment firm Centum Investment PLC. The firm has drilled boreholes near the Indian Ocean and desalinate the sea water and supply to business people and residents within its reach.
According to Mr Mung'aro, this multi-million desalination project in Kilifi county is meant to address the water shortage facing residents. Currently, the project has been piping desalinated water to residents within Vipingo Ridge and it's environs.
