Governors who employ staff beyond the prescribed limit will now be held personally liable. The anti-corruption body says it will institute civil recovery cases against the governors to ensure they refund the public money paid as salaries for illegal employment. In a Circular dispatched on Wednesday to all Governors by CEO Twalib Mbarak, the Commission says that there is a fragrant breach of the existing guidelines on recruitment of staff for the Executive Office of the Governor and that it should stop. EACC wants all Governors to limit staff for their offices only to Chief of Staff; Economic Advisor; Political Advisor; Legal Advisor; Director, Governor’s Press Service, and Support staff .Among the counties under probe for HR malpractices is Wajir where the Governor is alleged to have employed 51 Personal Advisors.
