The High Court sitting in Nairobi has barred the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and his officers from blocking roads within Nairobi Central Business District during peaceful demonstrations. While giving the ruling, Justice Lawrence Mugambi ordered police officers to stop erecting roadblocks, barricades, or barbed wire within Nairobi Central Business District stating the actions amounted to an unjustified limitation of rights to peaceful assembly and freedom of movement as enshrined in the Constitution.
