The High Court has quashed notices from the Communications Authority and the Kenya Revenue Authority that required importers and assemblers of mobile phones to register their IMEI numbers for purposes of tax compliance. The KRA in regulations it published in November of last year had also required travellers entering Kenya to declare their devices and provide their IMEI numbers.
