President William Ruto says the Social Health Authority has paid 18.2 billing shillings as of January 31st 2025, four months since its inception. The President in a statement said hospitals owed by the defunct NHIF below 10 million shillings in claims which, represent 91% of all facilities will be paid in full. Facilities claiming over 10 million shillings will be subjected to a verification exercise that should be completed within 90 days after which payments will be agreed on.His sentiments come as Health Cabinet Secretary Dr. Deborah Barasa steered clear of the alleged 104 billion shillings Social Health Authority System saying the debate on the matter was put to rest by the President.
