Independent Gas Dealers Association has acknowledged the laxity in regulations that caused the Embakasi fire, stating that the only way to avoid a repeat is by coming up with a new guiding framework.
The association’s chair Yusuf Adan says they are partnering with associated state agencies such as the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Association to ensure full compliance in ensuring the safety of the product before it is purchased by the end user.
Further, they say they have established a monitoring mechanism to ensure compliance by all dealers under the association, which will make it easier to ensure compliance and to follow up in case of any drawbacks.
