A new command centre has been established for Isiolo, Meru, Laikipia and Samburu counties to curb banditry attacks in affected areas. According to the inspector general of police Japheth Koome, new sophisticated weapons have also been deployed as an extension of the ongoing security operation dubbed Maliza Uhalifu. This came in the wake of a surge in banditry attacks in the North-rift and the Meru-Isiolo areas.
