Indonesia: Zoezi la kuwatafuta watu kumi waliokwama kwenye mlima laendelea
Mamlaka nchini Indonesia Jumanne ilisema wameipata miili minane kutoka katika shimo la Mlima Marapi na kuwa watu 10 hawajapatikana, baada ya volcano kulipuka siku kadhaa zilizopita huko Sumatra Magharibi, ikiongeza idadi ya waliothibishwa na wanaodhaniwa wamekufa kufikia 23.
Miili ya wapandaji mlima watano ilipatikana Jumatatu, na wengine kadhaa wanadhaniwa wamefariki kwa sababu walikuwa karibu na mlipuko huo wa gesi wenye moto na majivu, kulingana na afisa mmoja.
Edi Mardianto, Naibu Mkuu wa Polisi wa Sumatra Magharibi: “Tunakabiliwa na matatizo mengi kutokana na hali ya hewa isiyotabirika na pia maeneo magumu kufika ambako upepo unarusha majivu ya volcano na mawingu ya moto, hivyo siyo rahisi kwetu kuifikia miili hiyo.”
Baadhi ya wapandaji mlima 75 nchini katika eneo hilo wakati mlipuko huo unatokea siku ya Jumapili, kulingana na msemaji mmoja anayesimamia timu ya utafutaji na uokoaji.
Marapi ni moja ya volcano zilizohai huko Sumatra. Mlipuko mbaya kabisa ulitokea Aprili 1979, ambako watu 60 waliuawa.
Indonesia iko katika eneo la Pacific linalotajwa kuwa ni “Duara la Moto” na lina volcano zilizo hai 127, kulingana na shirika la kufuatilia volcano.
