Public and animal health professionals in conjunction with environmental experts have partnered with the Isiolo County government to unveil a 5- year strategic plan that will address the challenge of zoonotic diseases which is widespread in the County under a project dubbed “One Health Approach”. Amref Health Africa's Project officer Robert Mateka said the strategic plan will provide a clear road map in amalgamating resources to handle such diseases that spread between people and animals. The project funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Rockefeller Foundation and the European Union, will be implemented by Amref Health Africa ,the County Government of Isiolo, the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and Frontier Counties Development Council (FCDC)
