The Justice Mumbi Ngugi led tribunal probing Judge Said Juma Chitembwe for gross misconduct and has recommended his removal from office. The report bearing the findings of the 12 member-tribunal has been handed to president William Ruto this afternoon by Justice Mumbi Ngugi and her team for final action. The tribunal was formed in May 2022 by then-President Uhuru Kenyatta to inquire into the allegations against judge Chitembwe and determine his suitability. Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko is among petitioners who had asked the judicial service commission to find him guilty of a scheme to derail justice in a land case among other accusations. However, Chitembwe has a window of ten days to appeal the decision of the tribunal at the supreme court.
