Residents of Manyatta village in Nairobi’s Karen estate on Friday took to the streets to protest the alleged grabbing of a piece of land they have been occupying for decades. A private developer allegedly brought construction materials planning to fence the property but the angry residents would have none of it. They lit bonfires, blocking the Karen plains road before calm was restored by officers from the Langata police station.
