Karua’s 2023 Take

After a contested 2022 election in which she was Raila Odinga’s running mate, Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua returned to the trenches coming face to face with state force as it repelled anti-government demonstrations. For the better part of 2023 Karua had been busy agitating for a reduction of the cost of living, electoral justice and inclusivity in the recruitment of IEBC commissioners. A year later Karua believes even though the bipartisan talks and later national dialogue eased the political tension, the Kenya Kwanza administration has in the end just been taking the opposition in circles. Martha Karua sat with Sam Gituku in this extensive interview.
