Kenyans have been urged to stop stigmatizing people living with epilepsy since it is a treatable medical condition. Nicholus Otieno, a Clinical Officer with the Kenya Association for Welfare of People with Epilepsy [KAWE], said that many still believe that epilepsy is a result of a curse and witchcraft, something he noted was not true. He spoke during a sensitization forum with primary healthcare providers in Garissa. He said that the need to train the health workers is to ensure that the epilepsy patients receive treatment at the dispensaries closest to them.
